We had a full slate of 16 NHL games on Tuesday and we had some impressive performances and players that should be rostered in much more fantasy formats moving forward.
We will start off with Jonas Johansson from the Lightning who is rostered in only 52% of Yahoo leagues and he has been very impressive for a goalie who didn’t have much production in the NHL so far. He shutout the Hurricanes and made 32 saves in the process. He has played 6 out of 7 games for the Lightning this season and has a 3-1-2 record with an impressive .917% save percentage. He is a player who should be roster in most leagues at least until Vasilevskij returns and that shouldn’t be at least for 3 to 4 weeks.
Dylan Larkin and Alex DeBrincat stayed hot as they combined for a total of 4 points in an overtime loss to the Kraken. They currently look the best duo in the NHL and fantasy teams with those two players are definitely in a good position moving forward as both of them should be close to 100 points at the end of the season if they stay healthy.
The Bruins look great so far but we have to remind everyone that they likely faced only one team so far that will be in playoff contention by the end of the season. Goalie play from both Swayman and Ullmark looks great and they will likely split their starts this season if they both stay healthy. Their offense isn’t that impressive so far as they scored only 19 goals in 6 games so far (5 times 3 goals in a game and once 4 goals in a game against the Kings who are the best team on their schedule so far). Keep in mind their schedule so far if you are including any of their players in any transactions.
Ryan Hartman collected 5 points and is probably the biggest story of the night as he was the key part in the Wilds’s comeback win against the Oilers. That brings him up to a total of 7 points in 6 games this season as he looks like a player that should be roster in many more leagues (29% at Yahoo). He is a part of the first line with Kaprizov and Zuccarello and he could have another great season with the Wild with a possibility of reaching 70 points if he stays healthy. A big plus for him in fantasy is that he can play the RW position which is by far the worst in fantasy formats.
At this point, we should avoid both Skinner and Campbell as they both look bad so far and without McDavid for a few weeks, their potential is limited. They lost 7-4 to the Wild and again had one period where they completely fell apart. This time it was a 3rd period as they conceded 5 goals (1 on an empty net).
The Flames again started slow and this season the goaltending doesn’t seem like the biggest problem as they scored only 17 goals in 7 games and only 4 goals in the last 3 games. Their offense looks out of place as they don’t have top-end players that can take them to the next level. I should be careful with any players from Calgary as they don’t look like a team that will provide much fantasy value this season.
The Flyers didn’t look as bad as everyone thought as they played another tough-fought game against a great Golden Knights team. Hart has looked great and provided stability for the whole team and for now, he is the only Flyer that is a must roster. The only other player that you should consider rostering if you have the space is Travis Konecny who has collected 7 points so far (5 goals, 2 assists).
