Can Tua-Tyreek connection go down as one of the best in NFL history?

Tua, Tyreek, and the Miami Dolphins are the story of this NFL season as they have taken their offense to another level as they lead the league in most offensive categories, and having a QB-WR duo that well above magical 2000 yards in a season is just another reason people love the Dolphins this season.

For most people, the question is for how long will they play together, is 2 or 3 seasons enough for us to classify them as one of the best duos in NFL history or would they need to play 5 or even more seasons at a top level? Can they stay healthy for most of that time to put up numbers nobody can argue with? Do they need to win a ring or just make it to the SuperBowl? With so many questions we can make some predictions and see if they check most boxes in a great duo category.

Let’s be clear if they stay healthy and at this pace become the first duo to combine for 2k yards in a season that would likely put them at the no.2 spot in one year season just behind the 2007 season of Tom Brady and Randy Moss who connected on 23 TDs during that season, as they had 1493 yards as well. At this pace, Hill will finish the season between 15 and 17 TDs and with that being more than 5 TDs behind the Brady-Moss duo I couldn’t place them ahead. But if they connected on 2000+ yards and 19+ TDs there is no question in my mind that that would be the best QB-WR season in NFL history. But to get to those numbers both Hill and Tua should improve on their numbers across the first 8 games of the season. Hill is a matchup proof and there isn’t a team that can match his speed and him having 10+ targets each game should carry him to a great second half of the season and with 4 out of the last 5 of their games being played in Miami weather won’t play much in his bid for greatness in 2023 season.

As it goes for them to be an all-time great duo for me it would take two 2000 yards seasons and it is that simple. If they combine for 2000 yards twice there isn’t much of a conversation because you can do it once and that will be broken one day but to have two best seasons and Hill standing at no. 1 and no. 2 in receiving yards in a season would cement this conversation from me. As it stands for wide receivers in history in the top 11 we have eleven different players and if Hill becomes the player that would have two best seasons in history can you even make a case against that duo as regular season performance goes? Even if they have no.1 season with 2000+ yards and another sport in the top 5 it would get difficult for me to pick a better duo.

Do they need to win a Championship for us to consider them to be the best duo in history? For me no, but would it help, absolutely yes. Tua is still a very young QB and with his injury history he has to be careful and I definitely don’t see them as a team that can win the Championship this season but can they make some changes and improve this defense in the coming years absolutely and there is a good chance that a lot of free agents will want to come to Miami to be a part of this great offense so they will have a window to win with Tua and Hill but this year will be difficult for them in the playoffs as we already saw in games against the Bills and the Eagles.

Can Tua continue to stay healthy? Why not, he made great progress this offseason and looks to be much more careful and taking fewer hits. Hill never really had big injury concerns as he played at least 15 games in 6 out of 7 seasons in his career. So everything points to them being a force for at least the next 3 to 4 seasons and Hill will be around 33 years old at that point and then we should expect cheetahs’ numbers to go down, but if they continue at this pace for the next 4 seasons they will go down as the best QB-WR duo in history and there won’t be many questions about that.
