We have four games on schedule again on Monday and all of them should be very close games and all there isn’t mach of a difference between starting goalie from fantasy perspective. Despite the hard task in front of us we placed the Penguins goalie Alex Nedeljkovic at no. 1 spot as he faces the 25th ranked team in goals scored per game this season in the Philadelphia Flyers. Scott Wedgewood and Alexandar Georgiev are at the bottom of our rankings as they haven’t been imprevise from save percentage points and despite Georgiev being at the top of the league in goalie wins category we wouldn’t be starting him against the Bruins team that scored 30 goals across last 6 games (5.00 goals per game).
NHL Fantasy – Daily Goalie Rankings – Monday, January 8th, 2024

Nedeljkovic has posted an impressive .917 save percentage this season and tonight he has a favorable matchup against the 25th-ranked offense in the league who score only 2.90 goals per game this season. The Penguins have a 6-3-1 record over the last 10 games and have climbed back into the playoff picture. Tonight, they have a big game against the divisional opponent so we expect them to continue with their form and make another big step in their fight for playoffs.
Demko will face the Rangers in a game between two top 5 teams tonight in the Garden. This will be a very difficult game for him but as a goalie with a 19-8-1 record this season along with a .916 save percentage you must start him. The Rangers have scored only 8 goals in the last three games (7 out of 8 goals against the Blackhawks and Canadiens, 1 against the Hurricanes) and with a high-powered Canucks offense a win is always an option.
Swayman is coming off a hard loss against the Penguins in a game in which he allowed 6 goals (only 3rd time he allowed 5+ goals this season). He still has a great .922 save percentage and is a part of the best goalie duo in the league. Both teams are in good form as both teams won 4 out of their 5 games but the Bruins have a much better goalie in the net which could be a difference in this great game.
Fleury has allowed a maximum of 3 goals in the game in his last 6 starts and looks very good since Gustavsson’s injury. Tonight he will go against the Stars who have struggled since Jake Oettinger landed on IR and have only 5 points in the last 6 games (4 of those points came against Chicago). If Wedgewood ends up starting again Fleury is a better option in goal and the Wild have a good chance to win this game.
Shesterkin has been lucky this season with 16 wins in 24 starts as his save percentage is at a career low at .908. Over his last 10 games, his save percentage is around .900 and that isn’t a good sign as he tonight goes against one of the best offenses in the league that scored 6 goals on Saturday against the Devils. Shesterkin has performed better against the teams in the Western Conference with a 6-2-0 record and a .917 save percentage but still don’t expect many fantasy points from him tonight.
Hart will face the Penguins tonight and it will be a very difficult matchup for him and the Flyers as the Penguins have averaged 35.8 shots per game over their last 5 games. These two teams are trending in different directions as the Penguins look much better than the Flyers at this point. Hart should still make a bunch of saves but don’t expect him to bring a win to your fantasy team.
Wedgewood isn’t a goalie that should be started in many fantasy formats at the moment as he allowed 13 goals in the last three games and hasn’t recorded a win in those games. If Matthew Murray ends up starting you can drop him even behind Georgiev as Murray shouldn’t be started in any fantasy format.
Georgiev still holds the lead in goalie wins in the league with 21 wins but is still at only a .895 save percentage. He allowed 11 goals in the last three games and has recorded a save percentage over .910 only once in his last 6 starts. His numbers except for the Win category don’t look very good so we would avoid starting him today as his only chance of victory tonight looks to be if his offense scores 4 or more goals. He faced the Bruins once last year and recorded a loss allowing 4 goals. Think twice before you start Georgiev tonight.
