With only four games on schedule today we have only a few goalies who will be good fantasy options. Hellebuyck and Vladar headline the list as they face opponents who aren’t on their level at this point in the season. We have a very interesting fantasy game in Anaheim and make sure you don’t have any Chicago assets on your fantasy roster as Bedard’s injury is a big blow to below average team in Chicago.
NHL Fantasy – Daily Goalie Rankings – Sunday, January 7th, 2024

Hellebuyck has a 9-0-2 record over his last 11 starts and is the best goalie in the league over the last month. The Jets are also playing great hockey, and Hellebuyck is a must-start against any team in the league. He has also won the last 5 games against the Coyotes while allowing only one goal in four out of those five matchups. He currently holds a .921 save percentage so make sure he is in your starting lineup if you own him.
Vladar will tonight go against one of the worst teams in the league who lost Bedard and Foligno in their last game against the Devils. Vladar has a 2-0-1 record in his last three starts and will likely improve that record tonight. The Flames played a hard game in Philadelphia yesterday but are still big favorites in today’s matchup. If you need fantasy points and Vladar is available on your waiver wire make sure to pick him up and hopefully bring a bunch of points to your fantasy team.
Both teams come into this game with a 4-4-2 record over the last 10 games as neither team looks impressive at the moment. Talbot has a poor 1-3-1 record over his last 5 starts but in the same period, he hasn’t had a game with a save percentage below .900 and has allowed a maximum of 3 goals in a game. Talbot provided great goalkeeping all season for the Kings and another good performance is expected from him against the team that likely won’t make the playoffs.
Lyon has been great this season for the Red Wings as he holds a 7-4-0 record with a .919 save percentage and with both Reimer and Husso not performing to the level everyone expected Lyon has an opportunity to make a play for the team’s no. 1 goalie position. Since returning from a two-week absence he has a 3-1-0 record and will look to continue with the good form in Anaheim tonight. The Ducks are 1-5-1 over the last 7 games and have scored only 11 goals in that span. Make sure Lyon is on your team tonight and if you need a goalie depth he should be one of the goalies on your list.
The Ducks have scored only 11 goals in their last 7 games so it is very hard at this point to start any of their goals but both of their goalies are around .900 save percentage and have a high number of saves almost every night. This is a game that could be low-scoring as 5 out of the last 7 Ducks games finished with 5 or fewer goals.
Kuemper has been poor this season as he has a save percentage of .891. He has also recorded only one win in his last four starts and allowed a total of 18 goals in those four starts. Kuemper will have another hard task in front of him today as he faces a top 5 team in the West in the LA Kings. Avoid starting Kuemper until his form improves as he doesn’t have much fantasy value at the moment.
Vejmelka has a 4-1-0 record over the last 5 games and looking we could think about starting him but three of those wins came against the Sabers, Sharks, and Senators as all of those teams are currently in the bottom 10 of the NHL. He allowed a combined 7 goals in his last 2 starts against the Panthers and the Avalance and tonight he will face the Jets and Connor Hellebuyck in the other net. This is a very hard matchup for Coyotes against one of the best teams in the league and we would avoid starting him.
Mrazek and the Blackhawks without Bedard are a very bad team and anything except Flames win would be a big surprise. Mrazek has allowed a total of 15 goals in his last 5 starts and another similar performance is expected tonight. Don’t start Mrazek or any other Chicago goalie moving forward as their team without Bedard is possibly even worse than the Sharks team.
