We have a 10-game slate on Tuesday night with some great fantasy matchups for some top goalies as Skinner faces the Blackhawks, Hellebuyck faces the Blue Jackets and Jones faces the Sharks again after a great showing a few days ago. Interesting duel in Buffalo between in-form Sabers and red-hot Joey Daccord and Seattle Kraken. Ullmak and DeSmith on the road in back-to-back games ranked at the opposite end of our rankings.
NHL Fantasy – Daily Goalie Rankings – Tuesday, January 9th, 2024

Skinner has played great lately as he has won five stright games and has a 12-2-0 record over the last 14 games. The Oilers have looked like one of the best teams in the league over the last month and tonight they will go against one of the worst teams in the league in the Blackhawks. Skinner already faced the Blackhawks this season as he stopped 23 out of 24 shots in the Oilers’ win, If you own Skinner in fantasy make sure he is your starting lineup as he is the best and the safest starting goalie tonight.
Hellebuyck has a 10-0-2 record over the last 12 starts and at the moment looks like a favorite for the Vezina trophy. In those games, he allowed three goals one time and the other 11 times only two or fewer goals. He will face one of the worst teams in the East in what will likely be another Jets win.
Jones is coming off a great road trip in California as he came back with a 3-0-0 record and allowed only 2 goals in those three games. He has improved to a .932 save percentage and we don’t expect him to keep those numbers throughout the season but another good performance and win is expected tonight against the Sharks.
Ullmark has faced a lot of shots lately as he collected at least 30 saves in 7 out of the last 9 games and those saves have provided a bunch of fantasy points. In those 9 games, he has a 6-2-1 record and has provided a bunch of fantasy value. The Coyotes have lost 3 stright games and with the Bruins on the back-to-back Ullmark will likely again face 30 or more shots again. The Bruins are still favorites in what could be a low-scoring game.
Saros will tonight go against the 29th-ranked offense in the league with only 2.46 goals per game. Despite Saros’ poor performance lately as he allowed 15 goals over his last 4 starts. Saros has been underperforming this season with a save percentage of only .901(career at .918). Saros has already lost to the Ducks this season while stopping only 17 out of 20 shots as he will be looking for a much better performance tonight.
Markstrom has a 4-4-0 record since the start of December and has posted an impressive save percentage of .928. He will face the last team in the Eastern Conference in the Senators who have lost three stright games and have recorded a 3-7-0 record over the last 10 games. If you own Markstrom in fantasy make sure to start him tonight against the team that simply isn’t on the same page at this point in the season despite having a bunch of talent.
Sorokin has performed well at home this season with an 8-2-6 record and a .917 save percentage. He has already faced the Vancouver Cauncks this season and has recorded an overtime loss while stopping 39 out of 43 shots. He has already recorded 8 overtime/shootout losses this season. He for sure isn’t at his peak form at the moment but tonight he will face the Cunacks who yesterday faced the Rangers what was a very hard game for them so the Islanders have a good shot at winning tonight against their backup goalie in Casey DeSmith.
Daccord is red hot at the moment as he allowed only 5 goals in his last five starts and and has recorded a win in all those matchups. The Sabers have started 2024 with two stright wins against the Canadiens and the Penguins and have looked very good in both games. Daccord is still a goalie in great form so he should be started but temper expectations as we would expect the Sabers to score at least 3 goals in this game.
Bobrovsky is on a 6 game winning streak and 4 of those games he played on the road. He will face a difficult task today as the Blues look great over the last 10 games with a 7-3-0 record. The good thing for Bobrovsky and the Panthers is that Joel Hofer is in the net for the Blues. Bobrovsky is a solid start today but this game could go either way. If Anthony Stolarz ends up starting he is a good waiver option as well as he has a great 2.05 GAA and a great .918 save percentage this season.
Vasilevskiy has by far the worst numbers of his career this season with a 3.01 GAA and only a .895 save percentage which has him ranked at no. 56 out of 86 NHL goalies this season. He has a 1-4-0 record over the last 5 starts and has allowed at least 3 goals in four out of those 5 games. Tonight he will face a struggling Kings team that has only four wins in the last 10 games. Vasilevskiy can be started today as the Lightning needs every point in their hunt for the playoffs. This game could go either way so he could easily finish in the top 5 or 12-17 range at the end of the day. Hope for the best if you end up starting Vasilevskiy.
Ottawa’s netminders will face the 20th-ranked scoring team in the league tonight who just came back from a four-game road trip in which they collected 4 out of 8 available points. This could be a low scoring team as Flams play a lot of those games and the Senators aren’t really clicking at this point in the season. Both of these goalies are an option in all fantasy formats if you don’t have better options from the list.
Seattle is still ranked 28th in the league with only 2.69 goals per game and 24th with only 29.5 shots per game. That is a piece of good news for Levi who looked better since coming back from his AHL stint as he has a 5-2-1 record since the start of December. He has a .905 save percentage in that period and is an option in fantasy today as the Sabers have won both games in 2024 while conceding only 2 goals in those matchups.
Talbot brings a 0-3-1 record over the last 4 starts in tonight’s matchup against the high-powered Lightning offense. Talbot still has a great .923 save percentage this season end will look to bring himself and the Kings in the win column as they lost a step with the best teams in the West. His play on the road has been amazing this season with a 10-2-1 record and a .937 save percentage while allowing only 1.76 goals per game. This will be a very tight game and Talbot is an option for fantasy but don’t expect too much from him today.
Ingram will face the Bruins for the second time this season as he recorded a loss in their first matchup allowing 5 goals on only 29 shots. He hasn’t started 2024 in the best way as he lost to the Islanders while allowing 5 goals at home. The Bruins are a much better team so Ingram should be avoided today.
Both Dostal and Gibson are a start in some leagues as they don’t allow many goals and tonight we should have a similar story but the Ducks just can’t score goals as they scored only 4 goals in 2024 while playing in 3 games. To put things in perspective they scored 3 or more goals in a game only once in the last 8 games so if you plan on the Ducks winning this game goalies need to be perfect and that is very unlikely.
DeSmith started only 11 games this season as Demko is one of the favorites for the Vezina trophy. DeSmith appeared in only one NHL game since December 20th and this will be his first game in 10 days. The Islanders will look to take advantage of Canucks as they are playing on a back-to-back. Be careful with DeSmith as we would avoid starting him tonight.
Hofer will make his first start of 2024 tonight against the Panthers who are only a few points behind the Bruins and the Rangers in a fight for the top spot in the East. The Panthers have won seven stright games and Hofer shouldn’t be started in most fantasy formats.
