NHL Fantasy – Daily Goalie Rankings – Wednesday, January 10th, 2024

by: Domagoj Erbežnik

Only 6 teams are in action tonight as we have three close games to watch without any clear-cut no. 1 fantasy goalie option. Samuel Ersson faces the easiest task tonight as he faces a team that clearly won’t be in a playoff picture and a team that looks to develop their young players with Cayden Primeau in the net. The highlight of the night will be in Vegas with two top teams in the West faceoff in what could be a high-scoring game if Hill still isn’t ready to return. Lastly, we have a rematch between the Stars and the Wild as the Stars look to bring another two-point home to Dallas as they did a few days ago.

1
Samuel Ersson vs Montreal Canadiens
Grade: B

Ersson hasn’t allowed more than 3 goals in a game since October 28th, 2023 (15 stright starts). He has performed very well lately and has a save percentage of .900 or higher in 7 stright games. Tonight he will play against the Canadiens, ranked only 28th in the league with only 2.74 goals scored per game. Make sure Ersson is in your starting lineup today.

2
Adin Hill vs Colorado Avalanche
Grade: B-

Hill will make his return as the Golden Knights really need him as they have a poor 3-7-0 record over the last 10 games and have lost a step in a fight for the top spot in the West. Hill when healthy is one of the best goalies in the league as he holds a 10-2-2 record this season with an amazing .933 save percentage. This is only his second game since November 30th so temper your expectations tonight against a great Colorado offense.

3
Scott Wedgewood vs Minnesota Wild
Grade: B-

Wedgewood has played most games for the Stars since Jake Oettinger suffered an injury and his play over the last few starts could have been better. He was rested in the last game and Murray won in a matchup against the Wild. The Stars proved they are a much better team and Wedgewood should have the advantage over rookie goalie Jasper Wallstedt as he makes his 1st NHL start.

4
Alexandar Georgiev vs Vegas Golden Knights
Grade: C

Georgiev just keeps finding a way to win games as he holds the league-best 22 wins this season. He allowed at least 3 goals in each of his last 4 games and hasn’t been over a .890 save percentage in any of those games. This will be a tricky game for the Avalanche and could go either way. It depends on who is in the net for the Knights as Hill looks like he is close to returning from injury and if he ends up starting we would favor the Golden Knights. So keep a close eye on the Vegas starter and if Thompson ends up starting this could be a high-scoring game but an Avalanche will have a small advantage.

5
Jasper Wallstedt vs Dallas Stars
Grade: C

Wallstedt will make his debut in the NHL and will have a lot of eyes on this game. As a rookie goalie, we wouldn’t expect him to connect good performances out of the gate. The Wild suffered a loss just a few days ago to a great Stars team so think twice if you want to take a flyer on Wallstedt in your fantasy team. He is a top 2 goalie prospect at the moment along with Dustin Wolf from Calgary. Wolf has played few games this season and while looking good playing for a slightly below-average team isn’t really good for young goalies’ fantasy value.

6
Cayden Primeau vs Philadelphia Flyers
Grade: C-

Primeau played only 8 games this season and has a save percentage of .898. All four of his wins this season came against the teams that aren’t in a playoff position at the moment and two of them against the worst teams in the league in the Blackhawks and the Sharks. The Flyers aren’t impressive offensively as they score only 2.85 goals per game(25th in the league). Primeau shouldn’t be started as this will be a very hard game for the Canadiens.
