NHL Fantasy – Daily Goalie Rankings – Wednesday, November 29th, 2023

by: Domagoj Erbežnik

With only three games on schedule today fantasy options are very limited. The best matchup is for sure being played in Big Apple between the Rangers and Red Wings with both teams having big aspirations for this season. The Capitals will continue with their road trip out West with a game in LA and the last game will be played between the Canadiens and Blue Jackets as both teams are deep into rebuilding mode.

1
Igor Shesterkin vs Detroit Red Wings
Grade: B

Igor has looked great in November as he has a 3-2-0 record with a great .923 save percentage. The Rangers are playing great and have a 13-2-1 record over the last 15 games and currently hold a top spot in the East. Shesterkin has played great over his career against the Red Wings as he has a 3-0-1 record with a .939 save percentage. The Rangers are clear favorites and Igor is the best fantasy option in goal tonight.

2
Cam Talbot vs Washington Capitals
Grade: B

Talbot has been great so far and he will bring his 10-3-1 record to the ice tonight into the matchup against the Capitals who are coming off a loss to the worst team in the league in San Jose Sharks. The Kings look great and are currently riding a 5-game winning streak and along with that Talbot has collected 6 wins in 7 games in November as he looks to finish this month on a high. Talbot is a great fantasy option tonight and having an easier matchup than Shesterkin they can be ranked as 1A and 1B goalies.

3
Elvis Merzlikins vs Montreal Canadiens
Grade: B-

The Blue Jackets have looked great over their last few games collecting wins against the Bruins and the Devlis and playing well in a close loss to the Hurricanes. Merzlikins is also 2-1-0 over his last three starts (against the Blackhawks, Devils, and Hurricanes) while allowing only 7 goals with a .940 save percentage. Tonight he will go against the Canadiens at home and if he and the Blue Jackets continue with their form another 2 points should stay in Columbus. The Canadiens have won only 2 out of their last 7 games.

4
Sam Montembeault vs Columbus Blue Jackets
Grade: C+

Montembeault is a solid goalie and currently has a .908 save percentage for the season. The Canadiens are slight underdogs and Montembeault has won only 2 out of his last 6 decisions. This could be a close game with few goals and Montembeault should be ranked higher than Husso and Kuemper in most fantasy league formats. Still, be careful and don’t expect much from him today but it is possible he could have a great game tonight.

5
Ville Husso vs New York Rangers
Grade: C

Despite his 7-3-1 record this season, Husso hasn’t played great as he currently holds a .888 save percentage. The Red Wings have played great offensive hockey so far and Husso has benefitted from that but going against the Rangers tonight he will have to be top of his game if he wants to give a chance that his team grabs two points. He hasn’t been great against the Rangers during his career as he holds a 2-3-0 record with only a .869 save percentage. I would avoid starting him tonight.

6
Darcy Kuemper vs Los Angeles Kings
Grade: D+

Kuemper has won only 1 game in November going 1-2-1 with a .875 save percentage. The Kings are playing great and having a home ice in this East-West kind of matchup is a big advantage. The Capitals are coming off two losses to the Oilers and Sharks where they scored only one goal combined in those two games. The Kings have scored at least 4 goals in each of their last 4 games and will look to continue their form tonight.
